RSS club meeting 10

Yana and Scott participated in our RSS club meeting today. We caught up with the most recent entries in the Drexel CoAS E-Learning blog:

I started with bringing everyone up to date with the EduFrag project. We now have separate workshops on Mondays to develop Unreal Tournament applications in education.

We discussed converting e-mail alerts to RSS feeds using Blogger and I showed an example of this for a Google alert search of "organic chemistry".

I played a little snippet of Kevin Owens' screencast for introducing students the admission process at Drexel.

Finally we had a good conversation about the role of peer review and the responsibility of the reader in authenticating scholarship (in both science and humanities).

RSS club meeting 9

Jay and Quinn participated in our RSS club meeting today. It has been several weeks since the last meeting so there were several items to discuss from the Drexel CoAS E-Learning blog. We went over blo.gs, student blogging experiments in class and nanotechnology research, the open source Beilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry, the NECC conference, digital storytelling and educational gaming. Jay then pointed us to some handy RSS feeds for chemistry and physics.

It is turning out to be tricky to find a good time for the RSS meetings during the summer. I'll announce the next one shortly.
