RSS club meeting 3

Here is the screencast and mp3 podcast of the RSS club meeting we had last Friday.

We had the pleasure of Jay Bhatt's company, who handed out some materials to learn about RSS and library resources. Jonathan from math and Aimee from psychology also joined us.

I started off demonstrating Michelle Francl's excellent chemistry blog. We then looked at a number of RSS related issues, including how to use Feedburner to obtain stats on your feeds. Jay demonstrated searching of peer-reviewed articles using RSS feeds and Google Scholar (that he will discuss in more detail during his talk on Wednesday in the Living Arts Lounge at 11:00)

Next RSS club meeting Friday at noon in 4020 MacAlister.

Podcasting talk at Bryn Mawr College

I gave a talk today at Bryn Mawr College about the podcasting and screencasting of undergraduate classes in Drexel CoAS. Here is the screencast mp3 podcast and Powerpoint.

Laura Blankenship kindly hosted me and brought a few enthusiastic faculty. I look forward to seeing how they pursue some of the ideas we discussed.

Laura gave me a tour of the cool robot lab. They have robot dogs that can play soccer.

RSS club meeting 2

Here is the screencast and mp3 podcast of the RSS club meeting we had last Friday.

We had Allison who was interested in RSS resources for chemistry and Aimee from psychology. We looked at using Bloglines to do simple searches and subscribe to feeds.

The podcast might be a little rough because not everyone was near the mic. I'll try for a different setup at our next RSS club meeting Friday at noon in 4020 MacAlister.

Blogging Science

Laura Blankenship gave us a very nice talk on Wednesday on Blogging Science. It got a few science (and humanities) faculty and librarians to come together and exchange ideas. Unfortunately Laura's audio dropped out during her talk. But she was gracious enough to repeat it later to make it available here. Thanks, Laura!

Here is a link to streaming and downloadable formats of her talk.

Here is the mp3 for the podcast.
